You may not receive assistance from friends, family, other websites, textbooks, or any other resource not provided by ALEKS. The main purpose for ALEKS Prep and Learning is to provide you with focused instruction to improve your placement level before you start taking math or statistics. Progress assessments are like mini practice quizzes; your performance on these can help the ALEKS program to recalibrate your learning goals based on your ability to consistently solve particular kinds of problems. No, you must retest to change your placement score, and your highest valid score should be used for placement.

Experience has shown that students who do not have a substantial review before retaking the test seldom change their original placement.

A word to the wise You have a sense of the topics that you know and the ones that you have forgetten. As you use the following resources, pick the topics you need to review. For example, if you obtain an Elementary or Intermediate Algebra text, go directly to the chapters with the topics you need to review. Similarly, if you use software, videos and web pages you may want to go directly to the portion covering topics you need to review.
